Why MS research is so important to us, by the numbers:
22
Years since Jennifer was diagnosed with MS on Nov. 14, 1997
20
Years since Dan was diagnosed with MS on Feb. 14, 2000
400,000+
Estimate of people in the United States who had MS when we first were diagnosed
Nearly 1 million
People in the United States living with MS now (according to a scientific study released in 2019)
3
Disease-modifying therapies available when we first were diagnosed
17
Disease-modifying therapies available in 2019
You see what’s happening here? Sure, MS is a progressive disease, but these numbers are tell-tale signs MS patients and scientific communities are making progress. Collectively, we are moving forward in managing, treating and understanding this disease; bringing us ever-closer to repairing what the disease has damaged and find an elusive cure.
None of these developments or this important progress would be possible without research. This is why we are excited to partner with Antidote and PicnicHealth’s FlywheelMS Study, which is “a first-of-its-kind research study that combines the medical journeys of thousands of people with multiple sclerosis (MS) from across the US” into a single place for researchers to study the real life experiences of MS patients.
But this isn’t an essay about us, it’s more about you and how you can get involved in this research from home that will help move the needle (pun intended for those who take injectable DMTs) in discerning the causes and effects of this disease.
Here is your opportunity to make a difference
All you need to do is enroll in this online research study to donate your de-identified, anonymous medical records. In return, you’ll receive a free, five-year subscription to PicnicHealth to gather and organize your electronic medical records.
