There are few things more encouraging than watching the next generation of healthcare professionals choose to make a difference.
That is exactly why Dan and I are so honored to be the honorary guests for the 2026 Conquer MS 5K, hosted by the outstanding students in Central Michigan University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program.

As two people living with Multiple Sclerosis—me since 1997 and Dan since 2000—we know firsthand how life-changing compassionate healthcare can be.
Throughout nearly three decades of living with MS, physical therapists have helped us preserve our strength, our independence, and perhaps most importantly, our hope.
They have celebrated our victories, encouraged us through setbacks, and reminded us that progress isn’t always measured by giant leaps.
Sometimes it’s measured one step at a time.
That appreciation has only grown through our ongoing relationship with the students in CMU’s DPT program. Each year, we’ve had the privilege of sharing our lived experiences with future physical therapists, and every visit leaves us inspired by their compassion, curiosity, and genuine desire to make a difference.
That is why this event means so much to us.
The Conquer MS 5K is about so much more than running or walking five kilometers. It’s about a community coming together to support the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the vital research, educational programs, resources, and support they provide to individuals and families living with MS.
We’re also incredibly grateful to partner with these future physical therapists. Watching these students grow from classroom learners into compassionate healthcare professionals has been one of the unexpected blessings of our advocacy journey.
Their enthusiasm, kindness, drive, and commitment remind us that the future of healthcare is in very good hands.
Whether you’re a seasoned runner, an occasional walker, or someone who simply wants to support a meaningful cause, we hope you’ll join us on Saturday, July 18, on the campus of Central Michigan University.
Every registration, every donation, and every step helps us move closer to a world free of MS.
We can’t wait to see you there!
Because when it comes to creating a world free of MS, every step truly matters.
