Lounge Hour – after the podcast

It’s amazing how a different sort of setting can open the doors to more relaxed yet equally insightful conversations between three friends.

This actually was the impetus to Lounge Hour, the fourth episode of our podcast, A Couple Takes On MS. As we always do, Dan and I sat speaking into microphones strategically positioned on our card table as our podcaster producer, Ryan Evon, recorded and contributed to the conversation.

But this time Dan was kicked back in our cushioned royal blue accent chair, and we all had just finished eating takeout pizza and were drinking the second half of a Founders raspberry ale six pack.

We meant it when we said, “Lounge Hour.”

Sure, Ryan found a way to open the recording with an outtake that had him and Dan in stitches laughing at something I did (I didn’t realize the mics were on!). But there were some great takeaways that will really help people who have Multiple Sclerosis stay cool as the temps start heating up this summer.

Heat is something that has the potential to really aggravate people’s MS symptoms. Dan and I know it far too well. We’ve addressed this in previous articles we’ve written, but we take a deeper dive into our temperature-related realities and how we overcome them in this episode.

And this is just how we opened the podcast 🙂

We eventually ventured into conversations surrounding art, the HBO series The Wire, the movie Walk the Line about Johnny Cash, home renovation projects and, oh yeah, that thing I did that sent Dan and Ryan (OK, it cracked me up too) into their fits of laughter.

As we concluded recording this particular episode, we finished the final bottle of raspberry ale and started making plans for our next Lounge Hour episode. It soon got us wondering about what impact alcohol has on people’s MS. We discovered the article Do Multiple Sclerosis and Alcohol Mix and concluded that this will be the perfect topic for the next Lounge Hour episode on our podcast.
