Difficulty sleeping has never been as issue for me.
This likely explains why my loving husband, Dan, sometimes calls me his baby bear cub because, well, I have the keen ability to start sleeping before he even shuts off the bedroom lights.
I don’t want to jinx myself, but in my nearly 25 years of life lived with Multiple Sclerosis, I continue to get restful sleep. Dan, however, cannot say the same thing.
He claims he always has been a light sleeper, and MS has made sleeping a bigger issue for him. Because of this, ever since Dan was diagnosed with the disease more than 22 years ago, he has developed some tips that have helped him to get better sleep in spite of his MS.
I am excited to share with you the link to his recent essay of Exclusive Content for MS Focus magazine online, “7 ways to get better sleep with MS.”
He writes, “There are bona fide MS-related reasons that adversely affect our ability to sleep. These include anything from spasticity to stress, depression, anxiety, inactivity and location of our MS lesions. That’s why it’s extremely important for you to address any sleeping concerns you have during your next appointment with the neurologist.”
But in the interim, I hope you take a few minutes to check out his essay to see what steps have helped him (and potentially can help you) get the sleep he needs to make each tomorrow more “bearable” 😉
